Festival of Quilts 2011 - A Gentle Reminder

My home city of London is burning but I'll try and stay positive by thinking of happy stuff and good times to be had, such as the Quilt Show at the NEC, Birmingham this week.

The very talented Fiona Wilson posted a gentle reminder about the Show as she is giving a talk on the last day about her journey as a textiler and her design process.   I love her delicate yet down to earth style.

Last winter I was lucky enough to win a Giveaway she hosted and won this super piece of art. The green is much more vivid and the brown much warmer, which goes beautifully in our soft green conservatory.

  • Details of the Quilt Show
  • Dates for 2011: 11th to 14th August
  • Opening Hours: 10.00am to 5.30pm (closes 5pm Sun)
The Festival of Quilts is organised with the support of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles and is considered the largest, most inspiring quilting event in Europe.  It boasts a host of gallery exhibitions from leading international artists and groups; visit the Features page for more information.

Over 250 companies will be selling all those hard-to-find patchwork and quilting supplies.

Here is a PDF of all the companies exhibiting.

There is also The Quilt Academy with a programme of nearly 100 masterclasses, workshops and lectures, and the Quick & Easy workshops provide another 100 plus sessions aimed at beginners.

And if you can't make it this year, here's the date for 2012: 16 to 19 August

It's touch and go whether I can make it this year, fingers crossed things work out and I can get there.

Do leave a comment to let us know whether you will be going, maybe some of you can meet up if you're going the same day!
