WARNING: Poppies May Cause Offence!

Tutorial Felted Poppy Flower
Yes, you read the heading correctly but this is by no means a political post, for me the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and Remembrance Sunday cannot go by without a mention.  The day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today, when people of the nation pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our brave Service men and women.  The first poppy is a tutorial at the etsyrussianteam.

I hope you enjoyed these stunning 'fabric' poppies.  Just remember to wear yours with pride!

One last note, some of you may remember my MIL is currently being treated for cancer.  It has now come to light that my Aunt In Law (her sister) may have dementia, which involves appointments both with medical and social care workers.  As chaperone my days are being filled with driving them to and from appointments, cramming books about dementia plus the every day life of having three wonderful children under 9 and a very patient husband.  Thus Blogging doesn't get much of a look in (I neglected the housework today so that I could do this poppy post).  I will do my best to keep in touch, especially following all your lovely Blogs but forgive me if I don't manage to keep up - at least until after Christmas.

As always, thank you for dropping by and take care of you and yours!

Welcome Movember!

Pinned Image
My Husband is officially a Mo Bros and I am a Mo Sista!  On Movember 1st, guys register at with a clean-shaven face and then for the rest of the month Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery.

Hmm, Beatles, Moustaches and Velvet - what's not to love?

Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Johnny DeppOops! unfortunately not a lot of fabric to see... oh well!

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November and through their actions and words raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

Pinned Image
Sam Elliott - loving the stripy fabric!

The funds raised in the UK support the number one and two male specific cancers - prostate and testicular cancer.

I adore this T Shirt, unfortunately it's no longer at Les Fleurs Boutique.  Ladies you can get yourself a finger moustache (Fingerstache) tattoo here at TattooForAWeek.

It began in Melbourne Australia but Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate, with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland.

George Clooney in appropriately named "Oh Brother Where Art Thou!". Looks like George is wearing some good sturdy fabric (I know I'm stretching the fabric mention here).

In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause right across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.

Tom Selleck
My excuse for including this picture of Tom Selleck, look at that fabulous shirt fabric.

The genius that is Salvador Dali (portrait by Irving Penn) - signature moustache and sharp suit, great tailoring!

Movember is about changing established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, getting them to act on that knowledge thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

Antonio Banderasno fabric to see here please move along... OK maybe in a minute or two.

A few people we know have been touched by Cancer this year so this goes towards doing a little to raise some cash and awareness on the Cancer front, especially the ones that effect men. If you would like to sponsor my husband you can make a small donation here

Many thanks for taking the time to drop by and for any donations very gratefully received. If we get a good response from my Blog I might be able to persuade him to allow me to post a photo of him at the end of the month - before he shaves it off!

I love the London icons and scooters, Absolutely Fabulous.  Cannot wait for Spring 2012!
It's great to see something for the boys, although it probably could (and will) be used for girls too.

Woohoo! The Fabric Marketplace In Sew Magazine.

Do you recall about a month ago I posted that I was going to be mentioned in Sew Magazine?  Well here it is.  Not the biggest piece in the world, but I am so excited that I have a mention at all, although it is half a page, on page 16 (of 90) so I've not done too badly!
In this Month's issue there's a free sewing pattern of this gorgeous dress, perfect for the coming Christmas Festivities.
A cute cloche hat tutorial with pattern.
A feature on cheery winter fabrics.
A Laptop Case Tutorial
This great Patchwork Table Runner, I might make one of these with some lovely reds and green fabric for Christmas!
And my daughter would love me to make her some funky 'customised plimsolls'.
Is it a cliche to say there is so much more that I cannot cover it all here?  Anyway I'll leave it for you to discover what else they have.

I'm pleased to say there's been lots of activity on The Fabric Marketplace.  Here's some fabric that has been added.
The talented Monalunas Swedish Forest from Anika Collection
The beautiful Foxy Fabric from Monaluna's Anika Collection.
Sebastian Cat Fabric from The Ghastlies Collection, probably my all time favourite cat fabric.
A generous 17 Meters of Gorgeous White Satin, perfect Wedding Dress Fabric.

And we've sold:
The ever popular Matryoshka Japanese Import Scrap Bundle.

Cath Kidston Cowboy Fabric Bundle, featured previously on here.

The classic Cath Kidston Floral/Paisley Fabric Bundle, another previously featured.

And Sherbet Pips Girl on a Swing.

Don't worry if you think you've missed out on these fabrics as there's more in stock.

So lots going on and lots to shout about.  Please don't forget The Fabric Marketplace if you want to try a new online market to sell all your handmade lovelies or fabric.

Thank you for dropping by!
